Job Description

Posted on: May 2, 2026

Amazon Growth Lab is looking for a Senior Art Director to lead a team of 4 layout designers in creating high-performing, visually compelling creative for Amazon Product Description Pages (PDPs). This role blends hands-on design leadership with strategic thinking, ensuring that Listing Photos and A+ Content not only meet brand standards but also drive conversion, clarity, and customer trust in a fast-paced e-commerce environment.

This isn't a generalist design role, we're looking for a Senior Art Director who has been deep inside this eCommerce ecosystem and knows exactly what it takes to produce listing content that converts. You'll should have a strong creative judgment, data fluency, and the operational discipline to keep quality high when the SKU count is high. You'll set the creative standard, protect it through review and critique, and push the work forward — both creatively and strategically.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • 7+ years in art direction or senior design roles, with a portfolio that demonstrates strong e-commerce or digital marketing work.
  • Hands-on experience leading creative teams — you've developed designers and raised the quality of the work around you.
  • Deep understanding of Amazon PDP ecosystem, including Listing Images and A+ Content best practices.
  • Strong typography, layout, and visual storytelling fundamentals, with an obsessive eye for detail and consistency at scale.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign); Figma experience is a plus.
  • Comfort with performance data — you use metrics to make creative decisions, not just to report results.
  • Clear, direct communication style; able to present rationale and take stakeholder feedback constructively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in high-volume, SKU-intensive environments — retail, CPG, marketplace brands, or multi-account Amazon operations.
  • Knowledge of SEO principles and how they intersect with visual content.
  • Familiarity with interactive content for enhanced PDP experiences.

WHAT YOU WILL OWNCreative Leadership & Standards

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 4 layout designers — setting a clear bar for craft, consistency, and performance-driven thinking.
  • Own creative direction across all Amazon PDP asset types: hero images, lifestyle shots, infographic callouts, and A+ Content modules.
  • Run structured critique sessions and asset reviews; give feedback that is direct, actionable, and tied to conversion impact — not just aesthetics.
  • Maintain a high-quality output standard even as volume scales, knowing when to push for stronger work and when to ship.

Strategy & Performance

  • Translate product features, brand messaging, and category positioning into visual narratives built to convert — not just to look good.
  • Work with marketing, brand, and e-commerce stakeholders to align creative with business goals, campaign priorities, and KPIs.
  • Use A/B testing results, CTR data, and conversion metrics to identify what's working, build on it, and course-correct what isn't.
  • Develop a strong point of view on how creative should evolve by category — customer behaviors differ across verticals, and the work should reflect that.

Production Quality & Oversight

  • Oversee end-to-end creative production from concept to final delivery, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and pixel-level precision.
  • Serve as the last line of quality control — you know Amazon's technical specs and guidelines cold, and nothing ships that doesn't meet them.
  • Catch inconsistencies across product lines before they become patterns; uphold brand cohesion without making everything look the same.
  • Partner with project management on prioritization, resourcing, and deadline adherence without sacrificing quality.
  • Develop templates, toolkits, and repeatable systems that help your team move faster and think less about mechanics and more about the work.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with copywriters, photography teams, AI generation and retouching specialists to ensure every asset is built to serve the PDP — not just look polished in isolation.
  • Communicate creative decisions clearly to stakeholders: present concepts with clear rationale, push back when needed, and align effectively when direction changes.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Consistent delivery of high-quality PDP creative that improves conversion rates and engagement.
  • A motivated, growing team of designers producing best-in-class work.
  • Streamlined workflows that support scale without sacrificing creativity.
  • Strong alignment between brand storytelling and marketplace performance.

TERM OF ENGAGEMENT

  •   Contract Type: Independent Contractor
  •   Location: 100% Remote
  •   Schedule: Monday to Friday
  •   Working Hours: Within 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM Pacific Time
