Job DescriptionIT Audit SpecialistCompany: BGIS Employment Type: Full Time (12 Month Contract) Location: Open to applicants across Australia About The Role We are seeking a motivated IT Audit & Compliance Analyst to support and strengthen our IT General Controls (ITGC) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance program across APAC. This is a great opportunity to build your expertise in cybersecurity, information security frameworks, and risk management within a dynamic, multi-sector environment. In this role, you will help monitor control effectiveness, support audit activities, and drive continuous improvement in our compliance posture. You will also work closely with senior leadership, external auditors, and cross-functional teams, making strong stakeholder management and communication skills essential. Key Responsibilities Controls Testing, Documentation & Compliance Management
- Support the IT Risk & Controls Manager in monitoring compliance with internal IT policies and external regulatory requirements, including SOX and ISO 27001
- Assist in the execution and documentation of IT control testing procedures to evaluate control design and effectiveness, identifying potential gaps
- Perform control testing in line with established methodologies and frameworks such as SOX ITGC and ISO 27001
- Maintain accurate, well-organised documentation of testing activities, results, and supporting evidence to ensure audit readiness
- Assist in preparing audit observations, control deficiencies, and risk findings for internal review prior to stakeholder communication
- Support the development of corrective and preventive action plans aligned with business objectives
- Track remediation actions from internal and external audits, following up with control owners to ensure timely closure and evidence collection
- Support audit engagements by collating and providing audit evidence to internal and external auditors in a timely manner
- Provide guidance to control owners on execution requirements, documentation standards, and testing expectations
- Identify opportunities to improve audit efficiency and control testing processes
- Contribute to IT risk register maintenance and compliance reporting metrics
- Stay informed on regulatory requirements, industry standards, and audit practices
What We’re Looking For We are looking for candidates who bring both strong technical capability in SOX/ITGC environments and the ability to operate confidently in stakeholder-facing situations. Many applicants typically demonstrate one of these strengths, but success in this role requires both. Essential Experience
- 2+ years of experience in IT audit, IT controls testing, or information security compliance
- 2+ years of hands-on SOX compliance experience, including Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 ITGC testing
- Demonstrated experience with frameworks such as SOX, COBIT, COSO, or ITIL
- Proven ability to conduct control walkthroughs, design test procedures, and document testing evidence
Professional Skills
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging senior leadership, external auditors, and cross-functional teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, business-friendly language
- Strong reporting capabilities, including preparation of audit findings, risk insights, and executive-ready documentation
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting, Information Security, or a related field
Certifications (Preferred Or In Progress)
- CISA, CIA, or ISO 27001 Lead Auditor / Lead Implementer
- CISSP, CISM, CRISC, or other relevant cybersecurity certifications
