About Rough Agenda
Rough Agenda produces:
brightonSEO UK is the largest search marketing event in the World. It takes place twice a year, usually in Spring and Autumn, and the event week programme is centred on three days of training, conference and exhibition events in the Brighton Centre.
brightonSEO San Diego takes place annually in September, with a move to a new venue at the San Diego Convention Centre for our 2026 event.
Hero Conf is integrated into the brightonSEO events in the spring in the UK, and the US event in September.
Alongside our events we run a busy programme of training courses, parties, events and activities which expand out to multiple hotels, bars, and event spaces across central Brighton. For each event week we welcome over 150 speakers, 40 sponsor partners, and more than 3000 delegates who travel from all over the UK and abroad.
More information about our events can be found on the brightonSEO website alongside a brightonSEO San Diego 2025 photograph gallery.
About the Role
We’re on the lookout for a super-organised, people-savvy, get-stuff-done kind of person to join our team as an Event Assistant. We currently run three major events each year, two in the UK and one in the US, so there’s always something exciting on the horizon.
Each event brings together over 120 brilliant speakers from across the SEO, PPC and digital marketing world and we need someone who can keep that organised chaos running like a dream. From supporting speakers and shaping presentation decks to driving communications and keeping sessions running smoothly, you’ll be at the center of the action.
If you thrive on variety, love keeping a million moving parts under control, and get a buzz from running slick, professional events then you’ll fit right in.
This isn’t a role for someone who just wants to follow a checklist. We want a self-starter who’s not afraid to spot gaps, set up new systems, and make our processes even better.
What You’ll Be DoingSpeaker wrangling (in the best way possible!)
- Be the friendly, reliable go-to person for our 120+ speakers per event.
- Manage everything from invites and onboarding to bios, headshots, travel, accommodation, tickets and badges, and final specific session details.

- Review presentation decks for great design, clarity, and quality - and give helpful, constructive feedback.

- Selecting session moderators and emcees, and managing their involvement in each event cycle.
- Foster and nurture relationships with key industry people who can help support the event; particularly with moderating.
- Onsite coordination; being the point of contact for all speakers and moderators at the UK events. Proactively address any issues that arise ensuring a seamless experience for all.
- Post-event coordination - a key part of any event cycle - sending out thank yous, coordinating feedback, and archiving slides for attendee distribution in collaboration with our marketing team.
Operational excellence
- Assist with coordinating the event programming.
- Work closely with operations, sponsorship, attendee experience and marketing teams to ensure everything runs smoothly.
- Take ownership of video management - overseeing the organisation, editing, and delivery of all session recordings.

Project management brilliance
- Keep multiple deadlines, deliverables, and people perfectly in sync.
- Stay calm, focused, and in control - especially when things get busy in the run-up to an event (and yes, it will get busy!).
- Problem-solve on the fly and make things happen - even when the plan changes.
About You
- You’re highly organised, love a good spreadsheet, and have the focus to keep 120+ speakers on track for each event.
- You’re confident in communicating with everyone from first-time speakers to industry heavyweights.
- You have experience in managing presentation files, and a sound knowledge of google slides, powerpoint and keynote.
- You have strong attention to detail and take pride in doing things properly.
- You’re self-driven - you don’t wait to be told what to do; you make things happen.
- You’re tech-savvy and comfortable working with project management tools and event platforms.

- You’re confident reviewing decks and giving professional, constructive feedback.
- An interest in digital marketing, SEO, or PPC will make what we do even more exciting for you.
- You’re realistic - you know event season means hard work and long hours, but you thrive on that team energy and the buzz of seeing it all come together.
Working with Rough Agenda
Rough Agenda works as a fully remote team with a strong ethos of autonomous working.
This means that as long as you are delivering your work, and have shared when you plan to be working and available, no-one will be monitoring exactly when you are logging on and off, and you will be able to work flexibility around other commitments. You will be expected to record and report on where your time is spent using Toggl, or equivalent.
We have found that for this to work, it is essential that you are an excellent self-starter, motivated to learn quickly, happy to crack on under your own steam, and assured enough to ask for extra support from the team when you need it.
It is also important that you are happy to work remotely from your colleagues, with no central office.
You will be calm, highly-organised, and able to accommodate and prioritise a workload which can increase significantly towards event time.
What You’ll Get
- Remote-first role with a UK-based, collaborative team.
- A creative but focused environment where new ideas are encouraged.
- The chance to work closely with some of the biggest names in SEO and PPC.
- Real ownership - your ideas and systems can help shape how we run our events.
- Genuine opportunities to grow your career within our expanding events portfolio.
- 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays
- Company pension scheme
