A global consultancy that leads the world in energy market modelling is building a new Data Processing Platform.
Its modellers use it to forecast how energy systems will change over the next 50+ years, working with everything from academic research to terabytes of hourly scenario data.
The MVP is about to go live, and the platform will be rolled out across the UK, US, Australia and Asia.
They're looking for a senior software engineer to help shape what comes next.
The role
- Core member of a small platform team, sharing architecture and design with the Engineering Lead
- End-to-end ownership, from system design through to delivery
- Build the platform's integrations, pipelines and shared tooling, mostly back end, on a Databricks-based platform
- Design and improve CI/CD so quality, reliability and observability are built in from the start
- Work directly with energy modellers and non-technical stakeholders to understand what they need
What they're looking for
- A strong software engineer first, backend-leaning, with real depth in a high-level language (Python preferred; Java, C# or TypeScript also considered)
- Hands-on cloud experience, ideally AWS or Azure
- Solid CI/CD experience
- A track record of owning builds end to end, not just picking up tickets
- Opinions on how good systems should be built, and the confidence to explain and defend them
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences
Nice to have
- Databricks or data platform experience
- React / TypeScript
- Energy or utilities background
- AI-assisted development workflows
Why join
- Greenfield build with real influence over architecture and technology choices
- Work that feeds directly into decisions on the energy transition
- AI-first engineering culture, with GitHub Copilot and models from all major vendors available from day one
- Remote-first (UK-based), with occasional time in the London office
- Competitive base + profit share, pension, private health and dental, and a flexible wellness budget
- £90-100k
