Art Director

SkillCat is looking for a Creative Director (contract) to lead the visual identity for a major brand relaunch. Please read through the whole job description before applying.

We recently completed the brand strategy phase and are now entering the visual identity stage. We're looking for someone who can translate our brand positioning, tone, and mission into a compelling visual system that will guide the next phase of SkillCat’s growth.

This role will lead the development of SkillCat’s visual language, brand identity, and creative direction across digital and marketing channels.

This is a contract role, with the opportunity to extend depending on project needs.

SkillCat is a mobile learning platform helping people launch and grow careers in the skilled trades. Through app-based training and certifications, we make it easier for anyone to enter fields like HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and appliance repair - without the traditional barriers of cost, location, or time.

Our mission is to make trade education radically more accessible while helping solve one of the biggest workforce challenges in the U.S.: the shortage of skilled technicians.

We are looking for someone who can build a brand identity from the ground up, not simply execute within an existing brand system.

What You'll Do

Lead the development of SkillCat’s visual brand identity, including:

• Establish the visual language of the brand

• Translate brand strategy into a cohesive design system

• Develop mood boards and creative directions

• Lead logo exploration and brand identity concepts

• Define color palette, typography, and imagery style

• Create visual frameworks for marketing, web, and product

• Ensure the brand identity works across digital products, campaigns, and media

• Collaborate with leadership and brand strategy stakeholders

• Direct designers and creative contributors when needed

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who has led branding projects from concept to execution, not just worked within existing brand systems.

Ideal candidates will have:

• Experience leading a rebrand from 0 to 1.

• Experience leading brand identity or rebrand projects

• Strong portfolio demonstrating visual identity development

• Ability to connect brand strategy with visual execution

• Strong conceptual thinking and design taste

• Experience working with startups, digital products, or consumer brands

• Experience directing designers or creative teams
