About Our Client:

The organization is a boutique law firm specializing in Family Law. It operates across multiple states and focuses on providing specialized legal services in this area, supporting a multi-state workforce.


About the Opportunity:

The PEOPLE & CULTURE SPECIALIST is responsible for leading employee relations, leave, and accommodations efforts for the firm's workforce. This role partners closely with managers and attorneys to address workplace concerns, manage employee performance and conduct issues, and oversee leave and accommodation requests. The position plays a key role in ensuring fair and consistent handling of employee matters and supports the implementation of people and culture initiatives to enhance the workplace environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end employee relations processes including intake, assessment, investigations, recommendations, communication, and follow-up.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to managers and attorneys, coaching on fair and consistent employee issue resolution.
  • Advise on performance, conduct, attendance, conflict, and retention matters, promoting coaching and development.
  • Resolve routine issues within policy; escalate significant legal or risk concerns promptly.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of cases and follow-up actions.
  • Manage leave and accommodation cases in compliance with ADA, FMLA, and relevant state and local laws.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to administer leave and accommodations while protecting confidential information.
  • Monitor and research employment and leave law changes across jurisdictions; recommend and support policy updates.
  • Lead approved initiatives in employee relations, leave, accommodations, and employee experience from planning to completion.
  • Develop and maintain procedures, templates, and guides to improve consistency and compliance.
  • Analyze case and leave data to identify trends and recommend actions.
  • Collaborate with leadership to plan and deliver manager education and resources.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to resolve employee matters and implement processes.
  • Perform other duties supporting People & Culture and organizational needs.


Requirements:

  • Minimum five years of experience in employee relations, human resources, leave administration, accommodations, or related fields with independent management of complex cases.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or related fields; equivalent experience considered.
  • Experience conducting employee relations investigations and advising managers on workplace issues.
  • Practical knowledge of administering leave and accommodation laws including ADA and FMLA.
  • Knowledge of employment laws across multiple states including California, Colorado, Texas, Washington, Virginia, and Georgia.
  • Experience in law firm, professional services, or similar multi-state organization preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, Slack, and Zoom.
  • Reliable remote work setup with high-speed internet and functional workstation.


Pay Range and Compensation Package:

  • The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate's experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
