Senior AI Engineer — Teylo (AI-first Real Estate OS) | Australia (Remote)

Teylo is building the AI operating system for real estate — connecting buyers, homeowners, and agents in one platform. We’re looking for a Senior AI Engineer to lead the design and delivery of AI systems that power natural-language property search, agent copilot/autopilot workflows, and contract intelligence.

What you’ll do

• Build and ship LLM-powered features end-to-end: prompt design, tool/function calling, structured outputs (JSON), evaluation, monitoring, and iteration.
• Own the AI architecture: model routing, retrieval (RAG), embeddings, caching, rate limits, fallbacks, and cost/latency optimization.
• Design agent workflows for real estate: inquiry triage, buyer intent scoring, inspection scheduling assistance, follow-ups, listing content generation, and internal ops automations.
• Implement data pipelines for training/evaluation: labeling strategy, offline/online metrics, A/B testing, and automated regression suites.
• Build safe, reliable systems: guardrails, PII handling, compliance-first design, and robust failure modes.
• Collaborate closely with product, frontend, and backend engineers to deliver polished user experiences.

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years in software engineering with deep experience shipping ML/AI products to production.
• Strong LLM experience: prompting, tool use, structured generation, RAG, and evaluation frameworks.
• Solid backend skills (TypeScript/Node, Python, Go, Java/Kotlin — any is fine) and API design.
• Experience with vector search (e.g., Elasticsearch/OpenSearch/vector DBs), ranking, retrieval, or search relevance is a big plus.
• Strong fundamentals: distributed systems, observability, testing, and performance.
• Comfortable moving fast in an early-stage environment: ownership, autonomy, high standards.

Bonus points

• Real estate / PropTech domain experience.
• Experience deploying on Google Cloud Run (or similar) with production-grade monitoring.
• Experience with document AI: OCR, extraction, classification, contract review workflows.
• Experience building multi-tenant B2B SaaS AI features and admin tooling.
