Accountant – SMSF & Tax

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Accountant to join our growing team in a fully remote capacity. This is a broad, hands-on role covering everything from SMSF compliance to business and trust taxation, ideal for someone who enjoys variety and takes pride in delivering high-quality work across a diverse client base.

While this is a remote role open to candidates across Australia, we have a preference for South Australian-based applicants.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review SMSF financial statements, tax returns, and compliance documents
• Manage SMSF client portfolios, ensuring all ATO and regulatory obligations are met
• Advise clients on SMSF structures, contributions, pension strategies, and legislative changes
• Prepare company tax returns and financial statements
• Prepare trust tax returns and associated distribution minutes
• Prepare individual and partnership tax returns
• BAS/IAS preparation and lodgement
• Liaise with clients, auditors, and financial planners to deliver seamless end-to-end service
• Stay current with Australian tax legislation and superannuation law

About You

• CPA or CA qualified (or working towards completion)
• Minimum 2+ years' experience in a similar role within an Australian public accounting firm
• Solid SMSF experience including administration, compliance, and client advisory
• Proficiency with SMSF software such as BGL Simple Fund 360 or Class Super
• Experience with accounting platforms such as Xero & MYOB
• Strong knowledge of Australian tax legislation and ATO requirements
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage your own workload and deadlines remotely
