Job Description

Posted on: July 21, 2026

EPLS Specialty Pharmacy Consultant is seeking a senior business development leader to drive new revenue growth through trusted broker, consultant, and employer relationships. This role is built for a high performing enterprise seller who knows how to open doors, create momentum, and convert credibility in the market into qualified opportunities and closed business. The primary objective is to deliver approximately 50,000 new covered lives, by January 1, 2028, through deeper penetration of broker and agency relationships and disciplined execution across employer sales cycles

The ideal candidate has a strong track record of selling complex healthcare or benefits solutions through brokers, consultants, TPAs, and employer decision makers. EPLS places the highest value on existing relationships, trust, and the ability to translate those relationships into real commercial outcomes. Specialty pharmacy acumen is important, but this role is first and foremost for a proven enterprise growth leader with the credibility, judgment, and sales discipline to win in a relationship driven market.

The successful candidate will own a defined growth strategy, build high value channel partnerships, and lead complex sales efforts with employers and consultants to position EPLS's specialty pharmacy solutions through data-driven value propositions that demonstrate transparent cost savings and superior service delivery

Job Title: Director of Business Development

Department: Sales and Marketing

Reports To: Chief Growth Officer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own a defined new business growth mandate focused on delivering approximately 50,000 new covered lives by January 1, 2028, through broker driven employer growth.
  • Deepen penetration within existing broker, consultant, and agency relationships to generate qualified introductions, expand EPLS market access, and create a repeatable pipeline of employer opportunities.
  • Leverage an established network and personal trust with brokers, consultants, and agency leaders to position EPLS in competitive opportunities and finalist discussions.
  • Lead full enterprise sales cycles with employers and channel partners, including discovery, solution positioning, financial value discussion, proposal development, finalist presentations, negotiation, and closing.
  • Build executive relationships with employer stakeholders across benefits, human resources, finance, and leadership teams to align EPLS solutions with business goals and specialty pharmacy cost challenges.
  • Translate EPLS specialty pharmacy capabilities into clear commercial value for brokers and employer buyers, using data, market insight, and practical business cases.
  • Partner closely with internal clinical, analytics, operations, and implementation teams to shape solutions, support due diligence, and ensure smooth transition from sale to launch.
  • Maintain an accurate, disciplined pipeline with clear stage management, forecasting, next step accountability, and revenue visibility for leadership review.
  • Represent EPLS in broker meetings, client presentations, industry events, and other high value external settings where relationships and market credibility influence deal flow.
  • Provide market feedback to executive leadership on broker sentiment, employer demand, competitive positioning, pricing considerations, and emerging growth opportunities.

Education and Experience:

  • 10 to 15 years of progressive enterprise sales or business development experience in healthcare, employee benefits, pharmacy related services, PBM, or closely related sectors.
  • Proven success selling complex solutions through broker, consultant, TPA, or employer channels, with a strong record of opening new opportunities through existing market relationships.
  • Established and credible network among brokers, consultants, agencies, or employer advisors, with clear evidence of converting trust-based relationships into revenue producing opportunities.
  • Strong enterprise sales capability, including strategic account planning, long cycle opportunity management, executive level presentations, negotiation, and closing.
  • Ability to learn and communicate EPLS specialty pharmacy value propositions with confidence, supported by internal subject matter experts when deeper technical detail is needed.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Advanced business or healthcare education is valued, but proven commercial success in relevant markets carries greater importance for this role.
  • Ability to travel 40 to 50 percent for broker meetings, employer presentations, finalist discussions, and industry events.

Professional Competencies:

  • Strong executive presence with the ability to build confidence quickly in relationship driven sales environments.
  • High commercial judgment and strong discipline in prioritizing opportunities with the best path to revenue.
  • Skilled at building trust with brokers, consultants, and employer decision makers over long sales cycles.
  • Clear communicator who can connect financial, operational, and pharmacy related concepts to buyer priorities.
  • Strong sales process management, including forecasting, pipeline control, and cross functional coordination.
  • Comfortable operating with high autonomy, clear accountability, and visible growth expectations.

Compliance:

Maintain all required compliance, privacy, and industry standards applicable to the role, including HIPAA and other job-related requirements.

Positioning Note:

This role is designed for a senior market facing business developer with direct responsibility for growth, not people management. The strongest candidates will bring trusted relationships, high credibility in the broker and employer ecosystem, and a proven record of turning rapport into revenue.

Job Type: Full-time, Exempt

Work Environment:

EPLS operates in a remote first environment with strong emphasis on responsiveness, collaboration, and commercial execution. This role requires frequent external engagement and close coordination with executive leadership and internal partners to move opportunities from relationship to revenue.

Benefits:

  • Market competitive base salary with performance-based bonus opportunity aligned to new revenue and covered lives growth.
  • 401(k) with company matching.
  • Flexible work arrangements supporting work-life integration.
  • Professional development and career advancement opportunities.
  • Comprehensive Paid time off.
  • Employee referral and recognition programs.
