The HR Generalist supports the full employee lifecycle for a distributed technology organization building cloud-based software and data infrastructure. The role partners with engineering, product, security, and go-to-market leaders on onboarding, performance management, employee relations, compliance, and day-to-day people operations.
This role matters because strong people programs help technical teams move quickly without compromising consistency, trust, or compliance. The HR Generalist will improve core processes, maintain accurate people data, and deliver a responsive employee experience across a remote workforce based in Raleigh, NC and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage onboarding and offboarding workflows across HRIS, payroll, benefits, identity management, and equipment provisioning systems
- Partner with managers on performance cycles, employee relations, leave administration, policy interpretation, and documentation
- Maintain accurate employee records, organizational data, and reporting in the HRIS; audit data for completeness and compliance
- Coordinate benefits administration, payroll inputs, open enrollment, and vendor communications with external providers
- Create and update people policies, employee guides, process documentation, and internal communications for a distributed workforce
- Track and report people metrics including headcount, turnover, onboarding completion, engagement, and time-to-fill using HRIS and spreadsheet or BI tools
- Support recruiting operations by coordinating interviews, offer processes, background checks, and new-hire readiness across recruiting and hiring teams
- 3-5 years of progressive HR generalist or people-operations experience, preferably in a technology or high-growth environment
- Working knowledge of employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, leave practices, and employment compliance
- Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms such as Rippling, BambooHR, Workday, or similar systems
- Strong command of Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, spreadsheets, and people-data reporting; experience with Slack and ATS platforms preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with sound judgment handling confidential employee information
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, psychology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Bonus: PHR or SHRM-CP certification; experience supporting remote or multi-state teams; familiarity with payroll, benefits, and employment requirements across multiple U.S. states
