An opportunity exists for an experienced Research & Evaluation Project Officer to join a purpose-driven organisation delivering federally and not-for-profit funded initiatives. Supporting a national program of commissioned research, this is a high-impact contract suited to someone who can step in quickly and bring structure, oversight, and clarity across multiple active projects.
Your New Role
You will oversee a portfolio of commissioned research projects, working closely with universities, researchers, and partner organisations to ensure deliverables are completed, compliant, and aligned with funding expectations.
With projects at various stages of completion, your focus will be on project tracking, reviewing outputs, and ensuring all requirements tied to funding agreements are met.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and tracking milestones, deliverables, risks, and budgets across multiple research projects
- Reviewing research outputs (reports, summaries, papers) to ensure alignment with scope and funding requirements
- Supporting internal review processes to ensure consistency and quality of deliverables
- Ensuring compliance with federal and not-for-profit funding agreements, including milestone and reporting obligations
- Managing financial acquittals and supporting payment release decisions
- Liaising with researchers, partners, and internal stakeholders to keep projects on track
- Maintaining accurate records and status reporting using tools such as Excel and Word
- Supporting governance, reporting, and knowledge-sharing processes
What You'll Need to Succeed
- 5+ years’ experience managing research, evaluation, or policy-related projects
- Experience within Government, NFP, research, or social policy environments
- Experience working with externally commissioned or funded research projects
- Strong understanding of funding agreements, including milestone-based delivery, SLAs, and reporting requirements
- Strong ability to interpret and assess research plans, outputs, and deliverables
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging academics and research partners
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Able to work independently in a fully remote environment and quickly add value
