Role Description The Financial Controller role is a full-time, remote but for a couple of trips to Texas. This role oversees all day-to-day financial operations, including general ledger management, month-end and year-end close, and the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports. The Financial Controller will develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures, ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations, and manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making. The role includes coordinating audits, monitoring internal controls, reviewing contracts and project financials, and partnering with leadership to provide financial insights on service lines and disputes. The Financial Controller will also supervise accounting staff or external resources, optimize financial systems and workflows, and contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Accounting and Finance skills, including knowledge of GAAP and financial controls.
- Candidates should possess expertise in Financial Statements and Financial Reporting, with experience preparing, analyzing, and presenting statements to leadership.
- Candidates should possess advanced Analytical Skills to interpret financial data, perform variance and trend analysis, and support strategic decisions.
- Relevant experience in professional services, construction, consulting, or government contracting environments is beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or similar certification is a plus.
- Proficiency with accounting and ERP software, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with project-based accounting are advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment, manage multiple priorities, and communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
