About The Role
We are seeking a talented Product Designer to join our Trust & Risk team at Whatnot. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing scalable systems and intuitive user experiences that safeguard our marketplace, protect users, and enhance trust. Your work will involve creating tools, workflows, and interfaces that help detect policy violations, reduce fraud and abuse, and support enforcement actions with fairness and clarity. Collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, data scientists, operations, and policy experts, you will develop solutions that balance safety, efficiency, and user satisfaction. Your designs will be integral to features such as appeals processes, account compliance experiences, internal review tools, and real-time interventions during live shows. This role offers flexibility to work remotely within the US or from one of our office hubs in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York City, or Seattle, reporting to a Design leader.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Product Design with a strong portfolio of shipped work
- Proficiency in interaction design, systems thinking, and complex flow management
- Expertise in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Protopie, Framer, etc.
- Deep understanding of user experience design principles, including user research, wireframing, and usability testing
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork
- Proven track record of designing zero-to-one products or new platforms
- Experience working in ambiguous environments and defining new product spaces
- Experience in e-commerce, marketplace platforms, or supply chain management is a plus
- Design end-to-end experiences that uphold marketplace integrity while minimizing friction for legitimate users
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex policies, workflows, and risk signals into intuitive product experiences
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and polished visuals to clarify ambiguous trust and risk problems
- Design enforcement decision interfaces that feel clear, fair, human, and actionable
- Support internal teams in reviewing reports, moderating content, investigating fraud, and resolving user issues through efficient tooling
- Contribute to the broader design system while advocating for accessibility and inclusive user experiences
- Utilize data, research, and feedback to improve existing tools and identify new opportunities to reduce harm and build trust
