Mergers and Acquisitions Analyst
Job Description
Posted on: August 1, 2025
M&A Analyst - The Pave
While the big shops have you building 55-tab models that nobody reads, we need someone who actually wants to own deals.
What we do: Independent sponsors rolling up fragmented industries. Think less spreadsheet warrior, more deal quarterback.
Who Are you:
- You are someone who has done a lot of lower middle market M&A.
- You can teach us just as much we can teach you
- Culturally aligned, we are all super close as a team and win and lose together.
- You love modeling, and know how to speak to the seller of a company.
- You love KPI's and monitoring them.
- You are an awesome person to cut bread with.
What this actually looks like:
- You'll build the models, but also be able to explain them to the seller's 65-year-old founder who built his paving business from nothing
- You'll run due diligence calls where your questions actually matter to whether we write the check
- You'll present directly to our LPs (no 12-layer approval process)
- When you spot something fishy in the numbers, people listen because deals live or die on your analysis
What we need:
- 2-4 years of real M&A experience (IB/PE/Corp Dev)
- Advanced Excel skills and genuine curiosity about businesses
- Can explain complex financial concepts without jargon
- Comfortable being the smartest person in the room sometimes, junior person other times
- Actually wants responsibility (this isn't a training program)
What we offer:
- Meaningful salary upside for the right person
- Every deal you touch, you see through to the end
- Direct mentorship from partners who've been doing this for decades
- Remote flexibility
- Zero busy work or "market updates nobody reads"
The reality check: You won't have 15 analysts to collaborate with. You'll be THE analyst on most deals. If that sounds overwhelming, this isn't for you. If that sounds like finally getting to do real work, let's talk.
To apply: Send your resume with a 2-sentence note on the most interesting business you've analyzed and why it stuck with you.
Email: Sam@spventures.io
P.S. - We actually read every application.
