About This Opportunity The Remote Support for Volunteers role is a vital part of our interim support system. You will provide connection, guidance, and administrative support to volunteer Dog Teams in regions without a local Coordinator. This ensures they continue to feel valued, informed, and engaged whilst we recruit a new Coordinator for their region. You’ll work closely with our Support Central Team and be provided with the necessary resources, templates, and mentorship. If you're a people person who shares our passion for literacy and community, this is a meaningful and flexible way to contribute. Key Responsibilities
- Support up to 50 volunteers remotely across multiple regions.
- Create and distribute a monthly “Update” for each region, including relevant local information.
- Be available to respond to phone calls and emails from supported volunteers on at least one morning and one afternoon per week.
- Be available for other important communications from supported volunteers, such as incident reports. These are relatively rare occurrences, but volunteers need to be able to access support.
- Host one Zoom session per school term for each supported region, if required.
- Place warehouse orders (e.g., bookmarks and other resources) on behalf of the volunteers.
- Maintain clear and timely communication with the Support Central Team.
- Support School orientation meetings as required at the start of the school year by zoom or phone.
- Ensure all updated documents are provided in a timely manner to schools- e.g. insurance documents.
- Update any information in the Buddy Database in a timely manner and create journal entries to note communications with volunteers/ schools/ sponsors.
- Maintain clear communication with all schools in your supported area as required.
- Support volunteers to undertake sponsor visits and/ or provide updates to sponsors.
- Support volunteers who may wish to get together at the end of school terms by providing dates/ venues for get togethers.
- Text or email congratulations to supported volunteers on their Birthday and Story Dogs Anniversary.
Essential Skills And Experience
- Alignment with the mission and values of Story Dogs.
- Experience as a Story Dogs Volunteer Dog Team member or Coordinator (current or past).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Organisational skills and able to multitask.
- Able to stay focused and self-directed in a remote work environment.
- Access to a quiet and confidential workspace for calls and online meetings. Desirable Skills and Experience
- Familiarity with Zoom or other virtual meeting platforms.
- Experience using workflow or communication tools.
- Comfortable using databases or volunteer management systems.
