Role Overview
Derq is seeking a Technical Project Manager to support their US operations. This role will be responsible for overseeing project delivery from initial scoping and planning to post-deployment support, working closely with internal teams, customers, and technology partners.
As the primary point of contact for all project-related matters, you will coordinate timelines, budgets, and execution, ensuring seamless project implementation. This position may require occasional travel to customer sites to oversee installation, commissioning, and training efforts.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & Execution
- Own the deployment process from setup to go-live, working directly with the engineering and operations teams.
- Lead remote deployments of ITS hardware/software systems, ensuring smooth rollouts and system functionality.
- Coordinate across teams (engineering, ops, customer) to track milestones, surface blockers, and keep deployments on schedule.
- Own deployment checklists, configs, and tracking docs — you're the go-to for getting it done.
- Troubleshoot issues and help configure ITS systems for traffic intersections, smart corridors, and other use cases.
- Support customers through remote setup, validation, and post-deployment handoff.
- Contribute to project management practices (timelines, task management, client updates).
- Contribute to process improvements — help us build better tools and playbooks for future deployments.
Stakeholder & Client Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and updates.
- Work closely with technology partners, contractors, and internal teams.
- Support project documentation, reporting, and status updates.
- Regularly engage with clients to understand their evolving needs, align solutions accordingly, and provide a seamless experience.
- Gather client feedback, analyze pain points, and collaborate with internal teams to enhance services and exceed expectations.
Budget & Resource Management
- Assist in tracking project expenses and ensuring alignment with budgets.
- Identify potential risks and proactively implement solutions.
- Support post-deployment troubleshooting and project wrap-up activities.
Skills & Competencies
- ITS Systems deployment hands-on experience, including, system staging and integration.
- Basic networking experience, including, system IP configuration and system integration with client network.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including client-facing interactions.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and balance priorities across multiple projects.
- Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to project challenges.
- Collaborative team player with a strong sense of accountability.
- Proficiency in project management tools and MS Office.
Education & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in project management within transportation, traffic engineering, ITS, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience managing project timelines, budgets, and stakeholder coordination.
- Familiarity with working on projects involving city and state DOTs is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
- PE/PTOE/RSP certifications are desired but not required.
- PMP or other project management certifications preferred but not required.
