Marketing & Audience Development Specialist (Remote, UK)

Contract:

  • Full-time freelance retainer (approx. 35–40 hrs/week).
  • Initial 3-month period at £2,500/month, increasing to £3,500/month upon successful completion.
  • Ideally starting Jan 2026 (but flexible for the right candidate).
  • Plus annual performance-based bonus tied to audience goals.

About Clive Conway Productions (CCP)

Clive Conway Productions is one of the UK’s leading producers of live spoken-word and interview events. We bring together some of Britain’s most inspiring thinkers, artists, and cultural figures to share ideas, stories, and perspectives on stage — from intimate regional theatres to major London venues.

Our mission is to create meaningful, intelligent live experiences that connect audiences with remarkable people and ideas.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Marketing & Audience Development Specialist — an energetic, strategic, and hands-on marketer who can make sure every CCP event finds its audience.

This is a rare opportunity to own audience growth and engagement across a diverse programme of live events, working directly with producers, venues, and partners to ensure our shows are full — whether that’s 200 seats in a regional arts theatre or 2,000 in a West End auditorium.

You’ll design and deliver smart, data-driven, and locally resonant campaigns that bring new audiences into the world of live spoken-word events.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and execute tailored marketing and audience development plans for each event.
  • Work closely with theatres and venues to coordinate local marketing efforts and maximise ticket sales.
  • Identify and target audience segments by speaker genre, geography, and interest area.
  • Manage paid and organic campaigns across digital channels (Meta, Google, email, SEO, partnerships).
  • Engage universities, community groups, and interest networks to reach new audiences.
  • Track campaign performance, measure ROI, and report on ticketing outcomes.
  • Experiment with creative audience outreach ideas that fill venues and build long-term loyalty.

About You

You’re an ambitious, resourceful marketer with a flair for connecting people to ideas. You may have 1–3 years’ experience in marketing, events, or audience engagement - perhaps from an agency, cultural venue, or consumer brand - and you’re now looking for a role where you can have an outsized impact on the business.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have a generalist marketing skill set and enjoy running campaigns end-to-end.
  • Understand how to reach and convert audiences across multiple channels.
  • Love data, insights, and creative problem-solving in equal measure.
  • Have genuine enthusiasm for live events, culture, and the arts.
  • Are comfortable working independently and remotely within a small, collaborative team.
  • Can balance creative thinking with clear, results-driven delivery.

Tools & Platforms

You don’t need to know them all on day one, but confidence in learning new tools is essential.

  • Social media & ads: Meta Business Suite, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Google Ads
  • Design & content: Canva, Adobe Express, or similar quick-turn design tools
  • Email & CRM: Mailchimp (for campaigns), basic list segmentation and automation
  • Web & SEO: WordPress (or similar CMS), Google Analytics, basic SEO principles
  • Collaboration: Google Workspace (Drive, Sheets, Docs, Meet), Trello or Airtable for project tracking
  • Ticketing & data: familiarity with theatre box office systems, Spektrix, or the ability to interpret box office reports
  • Scheduling & automation: SocialPilot, Buffer, or similar social scheduling platforms

What We Offer

  • Freelance retainer: £2,500/month for the first 3 months, rising to £3,500/month post-probation.
  • Performance bonus: Up to 10% of annual salary, tied to audience growth and ticketing success.
  • Remote-first flexibility: Work from anywhere in the UK with a strong internet connection.
  • Impact & ownership: A real chance to shape how audiences discover and experience CCP’s events.
  • Growth opportunity: Expand your skills and influence as CCP evolves and grows its national footprint.

How to Apply

Send your CV and a short cover letter (video etc) explaining why this opportunity excites you, and how you’d think about an approach to growing audiences for live cultural events.
