Job Title: Business Development Manager

Location: Fully Remote, UK based

Salary: £60,000-£80,000 + benefits

About the Role

An established UK engineering manufacturer is hiring a Business Development Manager to lead sales growth across the aerospace and defence sector.

This role focuses on selling electrical and electronic components, electro mechanical assemblies, and integrated lighting systems into military air programmes across the UK, Europe, and Rest of World, excluding the US.

You will manage long sales cycles, often 18 to 24 months, working closely with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and defence organisations. The focus is on strategic account development, market mapping, and winning specification positions on new and existing platforms.

This is a fully remote position with international travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead sales activity within the military aerospace market
  • Develop and deliver a structured sales plan with clear revenue targets
  • Identify and secure new OEM and Tier 1 opportunities
  • Manage and grow key strategic accounts
  • Drive specification of electronic components, lighting systems, and integrated assemblies into aerospace platforms
  • Support bid and proposal activity for complex defence programmes
  • Maintain accurate forecasting and pipeline reporting through CRM
  • Ensure compliance with UK Export Control and ITAR where required
  • Work cross functionally with engineering and operations teams to support customer requirements

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven track record selling electronic components or systems into aerospace and defence customers
  • Experience working with OEMs and Tier 1 aerospace suppliers
  • Strong understanding of long design and qualification sales cycles
  • Experience with export licensing and regulated markets
  • Confident managing complex proposals and commercial negotiations
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote role
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent experience desirable

Experience selling lighting systems is helpful but not essential. The priority is experience selling to aerospace defence clients and OEM’s.
