About Your Role As a Software Engineering Manager at Annalise.ai, you are responsible for leading a team of engineers based throughout Australia. You will be accountable for people, process and technology aspects, as well as building and fostering a high performing, global engineering culture. You are accountable for enabling agility, continuous improvement of our process and product, and working closely with product managers and project managers to influence the direction of our product. You will empower your team to achieve their goals, coach them in their professional development and play a pivotal role in driving key project outcomes and milestones. What You'll Do

  • Lead and support a team of engineers, helping them grow in their careers through regular feedback, mentorship, and performance development,
  • Partner with Product, Design, and other stakeholders to translate company strategy into team-level direction and technical roadmaps,
  • Drive team health and engineering culture, cultivating psychological safety, collaboration, and ownership,
  • Foster a diverse, collaborative and global organisational culture,
  • Motivate the the team to deliver and achieve project milestones in a timely manner,
  • Identify and grow future leaders within the team, creating space for autonomy and ownership,
  • Navigate and guide the team through organizational changes, helping minimize disruption and maintain focus on impact,
  • Advocate for engineering best practices, process improvements, and a sustainable delivery pace,
  • Hire, onboard, and integrate new engineers while maintaining a strong team dynamic,
  • Own and improve team rituals, including planning, standups, retros, and goal setting,
  • Interact with customers, understand their needs, and drive feasibilities, product features enabling solutions of high customer value, and
  • Champion talent retention, listening actively to team needs, removing blockers, and ensuring engineers feel empowered and fulfilled.

What You Bring

  • A minimum of 3 years as a Software Engineering Manager or equivalent experience leading high performing engineering teams,
  • Demonstrated success leading teams through change, ambiguity, or scale-ups within a global organisation,
  • Previous experience building and maintaining complex products,
  • Technical depth to support engineers and collaborate effectively with tech leads and architects (hands-on experience not required but a plus).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to build trust across all levels, across technical and non-technical teams,
  • A coaching mindset with a focus on people-first leadership and team empowerment,
  • Strong sense of ownership and ability to align team output with business priorities.
  • Experience with standard Agile software practices, Scrum, CI/CD pipelines, Git,
  • Expertise managing projects using tools like Jira; collaborating using tools like Confluence, and
  • Experience in hiring and building diverse, inclusive, and resilient teams.

Nice To Have (but Not Essential)

  • Experience in Healthcare domain and in product development companies, building SaMD (Software as a Medical device) and/or SiMD (Software in a Medical Device),
  • Basic technical exposure to AI and associated technologies ( TensorFlow, Pytorch),
  • Broad technology background with exposure in Python; Node.js/Typescript, Docker, Cloud technologies,
  • Experience with medical imaging and associated technologies (e.g. DICOM, FHIR, HL7), and
  • Experience in a start-up or scale-up environment.
