The Regional Controller will oversee accounting and financial reporting operations for a growing, multi-entity organization. This individual will lead the monthly close process, ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, oversee cash management, and maintain strong internal controls while partnering closely with operational and corporate finance leadership.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader who can balance technical accounting expertise with day-to-day execution and team oversight. This individual should be comfortable working directly in the details, identifying and resolving accounting issues, and driving process improvements that support accurate financial reporting and continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Manage the month-end close process, ensuring financial results are prepared accurately and delivered within established timelines.

  • Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet account reconciliations.

  • Maintain compliance with U.S. GAAP, organizational accounting standards, and internal control policies.

  • Review financial statements, account analyses, and supporting documentation to validate the accuracy and completeness of reported results.

  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies involving transactional data, account balances, and financial reporting.

  • Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed on schedule, adequately documented, and subject to appropriate review.

  • Coordinate audit preparation by maintaining supporting schedules, gathering documentation, and providing financial analyses as needed.

Cash Management & Financial Systems

  • Direct cash accounting activities, bank reconciliations, liquidity monitoring, and other cash management processes.

  • Maintain the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of financial information across accounting systems and operational platforms.

  • Troubleshoot system-related accounting issues, investigate data inconsistencies, and resolve reconciliation variances.

  • Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to enhance financial systems, strengthen reporting quality, and streamline accounting workflows.

  • Contribute to system upgrades, automation projects, and technology improvements that increase accounting efficiency and reliability.

Operational Finance & Business Partnership

  • Collaborate with operational leaders, FP&A, and Corporate Finance to evaluate financial performance and inform business decisions.

  • Analyze financial results, explain material variances, assess balance sheet activity, and highlight potential financial risks.

  • Prepare and support monthly financial reviews, management reporting, and other business performance assessments.

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, reinforce financial controls, and enhance operational effectiveness.

  • Partner with teams across the organization to investigate and resolve accounting matters while supporting broader business initiatives.

Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead and develop accounting team members by establishing clear expectations, defined responsibilities, and a culture of accountability.

  • Provide direct oversight and hands-on review of accounting deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and timely execution.

  • Evaluate existing accounting procedures and internal controls, identify areas of weakness, and implement corrective actions.

  • Establish and maintain consistent accounting policies, standardized procedures, and comprehensive process documentation.

  • Drive ongoing improvements that strengthen financial operations, increase scalability, and support the organization's continued growth.

Qualifications & Experience

  • At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including financial close management, controllership, or accounting team leadership.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline preferred; CPA certification is an advantage.

  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, general ledger management, financial reporting, and internal control frameworks.

  • Demonstrated success managing the month-end close cycle, including journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.

  • Experience overseeing cash accounting, bank reconciliations, and related treasury or cash management activities.

  • Proven ability to investigate accounting variances, identify control deficiencies, and implement lasting process improvements.

  • Previous experience supervising, coaching, and developing accounting professionals.

  • Proficiency with ERP platforms and financial management systems; experience with Sage Intacct is a plus.

  • Familiarity with financial close and account reconciliation solutions, such as FloQast or comparable platforms, is preferred.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities, including analyzing high-volume transactional data and performing complex account reconciliations.

  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills, coupled with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Practical, hands-on approach to leadership, with the ability to research financial issues, work directly with accounting data, and balance multiple priorities.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with operational teams and corporate leadership.
