Infuse Travel is seeking an Outdoor Education Manager to coordinate its programs in Central Australia. This is a rare opportunity to work closely with a team of travel professionals and Traditional Owners in some of the most beautiful parts of Australia to provide students and schools with experiential learning programs.About Infuse

The Position

The Outdoor Education Manager position at Infuse is internally known as a Program Manager. This position is to manage our outdoor education and Aboriginal cultural immersion programs in Central Australia (~70% of role) and other regions as required by operational needs (~30% of role).

The position is a work-from-home (WFH) and fly-in fly-out (FIFO) position. It is not a requirement of the position to live in Central Australia year-round, however you will be required to live within a one hour drive of a major airport and travel away from home for up to 100 days per year. Infuse also provides workplaces in Mornington and Grantville (VIC).

As Program Manager, you are ultimately responsible for the success of the programs in your portfolio. Your role entails designing, preparing and delivering programs to achieve measurable outcomes for clients, community partners and stakeholders. This involves programming, preparing detailed itineraries, reservations, logistics, resource management, training staff, managing relationships with community partners and suppliers, coordinating simultaneous programs, supporting our operations team, and personally leading several programs each year.

Applicant Pre-Requisites

·       3+ years employment in outdoor education or Aboriginal cultural immersion programs

·       Cert IV Outdoor Leadership or relevant tertiary qualification is preferred

·       Experience coordinating or managing multiple groups of people in outdoor environments on journey-based programs.

·       Experience driving 4WD vehicles in remote parts of Australia

·       An understanding of vehicle and trailer maintenance

·       Current or willing to obtain MR/HR license, lifeguard and wilderness first aid qualifications

Responsibilities

·       Take full responsibility for the success of programs that are assigned to you to manage. Approximately 70% of your load will be managing Central Australia programs and 30% managing programs in other parts of Australia as assigned by our Operations Manager. 

·       Plan and manage each assigned program in its entirety, including development of itineraries, budgets, reservations, menus, organising equipment, preparing resources for leaders and everything else through to program delivery and post-trip follow-up.

·       Organise and manage Infuse’s vehicles, trailers and outdoor equipment.

·       Coordinate servicing and repairs on vehicles and trailers with local providers.

·       Relocate vehicles between program locations if required.

·       Ensure that all safety & risk management protocols are followed are met, including vendor vetting, risk management planning, and adventure activity standards.

·       Plan and deliver training for Program Leaders rostered onto your programs.

·       Support Program Leaders with logistics and any issues that arise during a program.

·       Act as a role model and mentor for Program Leaders.

·       Complete post-trip surveys and debriefs with Program Leaders.

·       Report all incidents to the Operations Manager and ensure documentation is completed.

·       Develop and maintain relationships with Traditional Owners on homelands across Central Australia.

·       Develop and maintain relationships with community partners to deliver high impact service projects for our students.

·       Represent Infuse with integrity in all communities we visit.

·       Develop curriculum, content and training materials to improve learning and teaching.

·       Design new itineraries and experiences to expand our portfolio of programs.

·       Provide sales staff with documents such as itineraries, budgets, packing lists, service project details and pre-departure information.

·       Contribute to Infuse strategic planning and business development through staff meetings, workshops and cross-team support.

·       Any other general business tasks in accordance with operational requirements as reasonably directed by management.

How We Evaluate Success

You report to our Operations Manager who will evaluate your performance according to the following metrics:

Outcome Metrics (75%)

o   Client and leader satisfaction (average Net Promoter Score of 85 or higher)

o   Timely compliance with directives and deliverables

o   Client retention rates year-on-year

o   Growth in revenue, schools and student numbers

Team-Work Metrics (25%) 

o   Motivated and self-driven, coachable learner

o   Communicate effectively across teams and cultures

o   Net positive contributor to team morale 

Time Allotment

Full time, 5 days per week.

Ongoing employment after 6-month probation and successful performance review.

Remuneration

·       Indicative salary range AU$70,000 - $80,000 based on experience and qualifications.

·       12% superannuation.

·       Four weeks annual leave.

·       Time in lieu

·       Flexible working arrangements.

Location

Location is flexible for the right candidate. Preferred locations are either:

·       WFH in Central Australia

·       WFH in Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Sydney or Northern Rivers

·       Head office in Mornington, VIC; or

·       Bayview Adventure Camp in Grantville, VIC
