Lead Finance for a growing Social-First Media Company

With over 44 billion views, 150 million followers, and some of the world's most recognisable factual entertainment brands, we're entering an exciting new phase of growth and we're looking for our first Head of Finance to help shape what's next.
The Role
You'll lead the evolution of Totem's finance function, improving financial visibility, strengthening systems and reporting, and providing the commercial insight that enables the leadership team to make confident, informed decisions. You'll become a trusted strategic partner - supporting both the commercial direction of the business and the operational decisions that drive profitability.
Strategic Finance & Commercial Partnering
- Work closely with leadership on strategic planning, investment decisions and commercial opportunities.
- Support pricing, hiring and organisational decisions through commercial modelling and financial insight.
- Develop forecasting and scenario modelling to support business growth.
- Identify financial risks and opportunities before they impact the business.
Financial Planning & Reporting
- Own budgeting, forecasting and cash flow.
- Develop meaningful dashboards, reports and KPIs that provide real-time visibility across the business.
- Deliver reporting that tells the story behind the numbers - not just the numbers themselves.
Build a Best-in-Class Finance Function
- Review and improve our finance systems and workflows.
- Harmonise financial reporting, dashboards and data sources to create a single source of truth for the business.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and reduce administration.
- Build scalable finance processes that support future growth.
Prepare Totem for What's Next
As Totem grows internationally, you'll help ensure we're ready for every opportunity. You'll work alongside external advisers, accountants and banking partners to:
- Strengthen financial governance.
- Improve forecasting and reporting.
- Support due diligence.
- Prepare banker and investor materials.
- Build a finance function capable of supporting international growth
About You
You're someone who enjoys building rather than maintaining. You don't just produce financial reports - you use financial information to influence decisions.
You'll probably have experience:
- Leading finance within a growing business.
- Improving reporting, dashboards and financial systems.
- Partnering closely with founders and executive teams.
- Managing budgets, forecasting and cash flow.
- Improving systems, automation and operational efficiency.
You'll also be:
- CA or CPA qualified.
- Commercially minded and strategically curious.
- Comfortable rolling up your sleeves when required.
- Confident in communicating with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
Advantageous if you have experience in:
- Media, technology, digital or high-growth businesses.
- Founder-led or entrepreneurial organisations.
- International expansion (US) and investor relations
